Our emotions are really important. They all have a purpose at different points of our experience of life. It is when they become extreme, consistent and unabating that they become a problem and can cause issues with our health and our overall happiness.
You might be here on this page because you or someone you love is experiencing extreme emotions that seem to be constant or consistently impacting their day to day lives. Perhaps they have been diagnosed with (or self diagnosed) with a mood disorder and are looking for help. You have definitely found a unique but powerful modality that has had great success in helping an individual to balance out their moods.
What is Anxiety?
Anxiety could be described as an overstimulation of your stress response. It feels like you are always worried or anticipating something. It can sometimes only be a feeling in the body even when there is no particular thought or reason that causes it. You may notice your heart rate is high, butterflies in your stomach and increased shallow breathing, muscle tightness or soreness, difficulty sleeping and concentrating.
What is Depression?
Depressive state leaves a person feeling sad, irritable, empty and unmotivated. You can experience it in varying degrees and it doesn’t often result from one specific event. it can be caused by a number of events and factors.
Are there other moods that can feel out of balance?
Experiencing anything to extremes for long periods of time can be a sign of a body that is out of balance.
Feeling irritable or experiencing explosive anger can definitely leave us feeling out of balance. It can impact your relationships with people around you that you love as well as your relationship with yourself. Studies have also shown anger can cause your immune system to weaken.
Excitement and hyperactivity produces the same biochemical response in the body as stress and anxiety. Prolonged excitement or hyperactivity does not lend itself to creating a balanced state and can sometimes create the same health issues as anxiety.
What causes consistent or extreme mood states?
There are lots of theories and studies that have been carried out or are currently being carried out to find consistent evidence of what causes these states. What makes finding a “one size fits all” cause OR treatment for these states hard, is that everyone is different and what leads to these states for each person can be very different. There is a lot of trial and error in regards to finding the right therapy or medication that best supports the person.
How can kinesiology help with balancing Mood?
A big disclaimer here: A Kinesiologist doesn’t “treat, diagnose or prescribe” for mood disorders or any other condition. However, many people have exclaimed that they have felt more of a shift in their mood after one session with me than they have from years of psychology. What a kinesiologist does, is help balance the bodies energy systems, identify the stressful patterns in the body and mind and improve the way the body feels. This all assists the mind in shifting into a state that better supports the individual to be the person they WANT to be.
What are some of the things that comes up in a Kinesiology balance to help support a person who is experiencing any of these mood imbalances.
Stress and Adrenal Involvment
Through muscle testing the body can help us identify and support elimination of the “stressors” that an individual might be experiencing OR provide the body and mind with specific tools that it is indicating it needs to cope better with the stressors (if it can’t be eliminated).
When we experience a high level of stress, or consistent amount of stress over a long period of time, the body can create patterns around that state in order to ‘function’. Even when the stress dissipates the body is still in that state. The adrenal system and our fight or flight response is constantly on and this has an impact on our ability to rest, digest and repair itself.
Kinesiology has tools to help reset and repattern the energy systems around these patterns and ask the body what changes can be made to help bring the body back to homeostasis and support the adrenal system to work in a more balanced way.

Nutritional Imbalances
Our nutrition plays such an important role in our wellbeing. Have you ever noticed how irritable and easily stressed you are when you are hungry? Imagine if your body is not getting the nutrition it needs? Perhaps the food you are eating isn’t the right stuff for you. If the foods you are eating are causing inflammation in your body (and everyone is different) you may find that your not actually absorbing the nutrition your body needs.
with Muscle testing and the Kinesiology techniques we have available. We may be directed to identifying what foods may be decreasing your energy ad what foods or supplements may support your energy in a positive way. We may be directed to clearing energy imbalances in the digestive system, or immune responses that are not supporting your body to digest.

Structural Imbalances
When our bodies feel misaligned we are often in pain or discomfort. Not only does pain and discomfort impact our mood but Misalignments and pain can also impact the communication within the whole body. When those messages aren’t getting to where they need to, our body may not be carrying out the processes it needs to to feel good.
Kinesiology is based on chiropractic (and TCM) principles. The structure of the body gives us a readout of what is going on underneath and in the programming of the body. All the techniques we do, brings the body back into alignment and balanced functioning. When the structure of the body is showing us that it is balanced and in alignment, it is a good indication that everything in the mind and body is also working in a more balanced state.

Environmental factors and toxins
The environment today is littered with more toxins than our ancestors. The products we use to clean our environment and ourselves can also put added stress on our body and body systems. Sometimes these things can also activate immune responses and allergies that can directly impact our mood.
We can’t completely avoid all toxins or have the environment in an optimal state, but with Kinesiology, the body can direct us towards environmental factors that may need to be changed in order to support your body to feel less out of balance and more at ease. Whether its eliminating specific environmental factors or providing the body with certain supports that your body needs to be able to cope with those.
Releasing and Healing Trauma from the body.
Our body and muscles store memories of our experiences of life and sometimes even the experience of our ancestors lives gets passed down.
Our body stores this information to keep us safe, so every time we might come across a similar experience our body becomes aware so we can keep ourselves safe and alive. This is obviously a helpful thing in certain situations. but if that trauma was caused by something unrelated to current situations and the body is still responding in that way, it can keep the body in fight or flight response and drain our resources rather than give the body an opportunity to rest and repair itself.
With Kinesiology, we are able to access and identify those emotions and experiences that are causing stress and imbalance in the body. The techniques available to us allows us to support you to release any emotions and stress that the body is holding onto around the issue. We can also help re-pattern the energy systems and assist the body with the tools it needs to rest, cope and heal while also being able to turn those experiences into something that help you to grow and transform into the best version of you.

Aligning your body with your Goals.
Having direction is what keeps us going in life. It helps get us up in the morning, and gives purpose to our daily actions. Sometimes our goals create stress in our system because its not aligned properly, or there are triggers and subconscious patterns that are stopping us from reaching those goals.
With ICPKP kinesiology, our focus is on what you want to achieve. whether its with your health and wellbeing, or just something in your life in general. We align your subconscious, conscious and your bodies energies and systems with achieving those things, by clearing any sabotage programmes, realigning any patterns that are keeping you in this state and identifying the factors that will assist you to achieve your goals.
Updating your thoughts, language and belief systems
Our mind is a powerful thing, so are the words we use. Our brain takes things quite literally. What we believe and how we perceive things is exactly how our body will respond. Our belief systems drive our conscious AND subconscious responses. Our brain also doesn’t know the difference between imagining or thinking about something and actually experiencing it. So, our body will receive messages from the brain to respond to that stimulus, even when it is just a thought. Always thinking about our worries, ruminating over the past or constantly planning for the future means our body is responding to stimulus it’s not actually experiencing. This can be a waste of energy, and be causing further stress in the body and mind. Sometimes the words and phrases we use, decrease our energy and lead to a response from our body that is less than best. Using brain imaging, scientists have built an interactive map displaying how words and their meanings are represented across different regions of the brain. With some words being represented in a number of different regions and in relation to different things. When you think about making sense of a phrase, It appears that we hear or perceive certain words that give a subject to the sentence first before we put it all together to make sense of it. So, if the subject of what we have said is focused around a subject that is ultimately stressful, we will respond to that stressful subject first before we have made sense of the words.
for example: “I am feeling anxious today” (Who – I subject= feeling anxious When=today) vs. “I am not feeling very relaxed” (who: I Subject: feeling relaxed When:not) ultimately they mean the same thing, but the subject or focus is around our level of relaxation rather than our level of anxiety. Focusing on the level of relaxed, directs our body and mind to the relaxed state rather than the anxious state.
Kinesiology allows us to identify those belief systems, thoughts, language and emotions that are creating dis-stress in your body and mind. The variety techniques we have, and with the guidance of your body, we are able to provide you with the ideal tools to support you in shifting your thoughts, language, self talk and belief systems in a way you know is empowering to you personally.
